Announcing v25.2 of the Google Ads API

Today we are announcing the release of v25.2 of the Google Ads API. To use the new capabilities, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. All the updated client libraries and code examples have been published. New Features Here are the highlights of what’s new in v25.2:

Competitive benchmarks percentile metrics: BenchmarksService.GenerateBenchmarksMetrics now surfaces metrics representing your competitive standing among other advertisers in percentile tier format using PercentileMetrics and BenchmarksCustomerPercentileTier. You can request this data by adding PERCENTILE_DATA to supplemental_data, setting benchmarks_source to ALL_ADVERTISERS and specifying the category_filter.

Generate Performance Max drafts from Smart campaigns: The new SmartCampaignSettingService.GeneratePMaxDraftCampaign method allows you to programmatically generate a Performance Max draft campaign directly from an existing Smart campaign, simplifying your campaign upgrade workflows.

Asset group URL options: You can now configure tracking templates (tracking_url_template), custom parameters (url_custom_parameters), and final URL suffixes (final_url_suffix) directly at the asset group level on AssetGroup for Performance Max campaigns.

Creator insights by YouTube channel handles: ContentCreatorInsightsService.GenerateCreatorInsights now supports searching directly by YouTube channel handles in addition to channel IDs, streamlining your creator discovery process.

Vertical ads itinerary dimensions and price competitiveness: For hotel and travel advertisers, we've added new itinerary dimension segments (advance_booking_window, length_of_booking, start_date, start_day_of_week, user_set_dates) along with new vertical ads metrics metrics and segments such as vertical_ads_price_difference_percentage, vertical_ads_price_tier and vertical_ads_potential_impressions.

Search bid adjustment recommendations: New recommendations (raise_target_cpa_performance_bid_too_low_recommendation and lower_target_roas_performance_bid_too_low_recommendation) notify you when Target CPA or Target ROAS bids are too low for Search campaigns to enter auctions.

A new onboarding experience for Google Ads API developers

To improve the developer onboarding and usage experience, we built a new homepage for the Google Ads API in the Google Cloud Console. Basic Access applications are now automated for developers who have completed brand verification. This blog post covers several related changes that will start rolling out today. Developers should review the action required section of this post to ensure a smooth transition. Changes to API access management We are updating how you sign up for and manage Google Ads API access. New onboarding experience for Google Ads API: You can now sign up for access to the Google Ads API directly in the Google Cloud Console without requiring a Google Ads manager account. We are sunsetting all the new signup and API access management functionality in the API Center page in manager accounts and transitioning to the Google Ads API Overview page in Google Cloud Console. You can still access the API Center page to refer to your old developer details. This page will completely sunset in the future. API Access levels are associated with Google Cloud projects: We are sunsetting developer tokens. Your current and active developer token access level is automatically transferred to your Google Cloud projects based on recent API activity. You can continue sending developer tokens in your API call headers, but this is optional and ignored by the API servers. Your existing code will continue working without any changes. Your API Access levels are now determined by the Google Cloud project you used to generate your OAuth credentials. Refer to our FAQ page to learn more about this change and troubleshoot any issues you may encounter. New error code: Version v25 of the Google Ads API will throw a CLOUD_PROJECT_NOT_APPROVED_FOR_PRODUCTION error if you try to use a Google Cloud project with Test Account Access level to make calls to a production account. Older API versions will throw an ACTION_NOT_PERMITTED error instead. If you run into this error, navigate to the Google Ads API Overview page for your Google Cloud project and apply for Explorer Access. Changes to API review process Brand verification required for Basic and Standard access: For new Basic and Standard Access applications, you must complete brand verification for your Google Cloud project . Existing access holders are not required to complete brand verification, though it is encouraged. Automated Basic access approvals: Basic Access applications are now automated and will be reviewed within minutes after brand verification and submission. One-time rejection of pending Basic access applications: Due to these process updates, all the pending Basic API access applications will be closed as part of this transition. Affected applicants will receive an email with details and should reapply for API access from the Google Ads API Overview page. Action required Verify your API access: Check that your project's API access level correctly matches your existing developer token:

Find your developer token's access level in your Google Ads manager account's API Center.

Confirm your Google Cloud project has the same access level on the Google Ads API Overview page.

If the access levels do not match, please reapply for API access from the Google Ads API Overview page or reach out to the Google Ads API support if you need help.

Update your API contact email address: Visit the IAM (Identity and Access Management) page for your Cloud project. Ensure that the list of users in the owner and editor roles are up to date. We will start sending Mandatory Service Announcements (MSAs) to these email addresses to notify you about any future changes to the Google Ads API. Code changes: We encourage you to update your application code to stop sending developer tokens as part of the API calls. We have published new versions of the client libraries which allows you to make API calls without setting a developer token. We will start rejecting developer tokens in API calls in a future major version of the Google Ads API. Reapply for API access if applicable: If your pending Basic API access application was closed as part of this transition, please reapply for an API Access from the Google Ads API Overview page of your Google Cloud Console. Announcing v25.1 of the Google Ads API

Today we are announcing the release of v25.1 of the Google Ads API. To use the new capabilities, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. New Features Here are the highlights of what’s new in v25.1:

Conversion lift and brand lift measurement: We've added comprehensive support for lift studies in the API. Read-only resources LiftMeasurementConfig and LiftMeasurementFlight allow you to inspect study configurations, flight dates, campaign details, and conversion goals. This release includes 24 new Conversion Lift metrics and winner score metrics for statistical analysis, as well as new Brand Lift dimension resources: LiftMeasurementAgeRange, LiftMeasurementCampaign, LiftMeasurementDevice, LiftMeasurementGender, and LiftMeasurementVideo. Refer to our help center article to learn more about Brand lift and Conversion lift. Both these features are available only to allowlisted Google Ads accounts. To use these features, contact your Google account representative.

BenchmarksService category scoping and new metrics: You can now scope your benchmark analysis against advertisers in specific Product & Service Categories using the new category_filter parameter in BenchmarksService.GenerateBenchmarksMetrics. Supported categories can be discovered via ListBenchmarksSources. In addition, new customer ad metrics (aggregate cost, views) and share metrics such as share_of_voice are now surfaced via AggregateMetrics and ShareMetrics.

Brand Sentiment Insights: ContentCreatorInsightsService now supports brand sentiment data, allowing you to retrieve sentiment distributions and summaries for creators and brands via BrandSentimentInsight.

Loyalty Program Segmentation and Conversion Value Rules: You can now segment report metrics by the loyalty program tier of converting users using Segments.loyalty_membership. Additionally, the new LOYALTY_MEMBERSHIP primary dimension in ConversionValueRulePrimaryDimension allows you to track when a loyalty membership condition was satisfied for a conversion value rule.

Original Conversion Value Metric: The new Metrics.original_conversion_value metric surfaces the unadjusted conversion value from biddable conversions before any conversion value rules or customer lifecycle goal adjustments are applied.

Parental Status Targeting in Reach Planning: ReachPlanService now supports parental_statuses targeting within Targeting and PlannableTargeting for reach forecasting and plannable product discovery.

Launching Structured Data Files v10.1

Today we’re announcing the general availability of Structured Data Files v10.1. All users can now use v10.1 when downloading and uploading SDFs in the Display & Video 360 interface. SDF v10.1 includes the following changes:

The ability to specify whether a YouTube video asset identified in a Video ID or Related Videos column contains content that was created or edited with AI. Read more about AI labeling in ads using SDF.

Support for digital out-of-home Insertion Order and Line Item resources.

New columns identifying the Display & Video 360 creatives in use by ads and ad groups.

Updated options for the Inventory Mode column of Line Item files.

Today, we’re announcing the v25 release of the Google Ads API. This major release brings support for new reporting features and goals. New Features Here are the highlights of what’s new in v25:

YouTube Ad sub-format breakdowns: You can break down YouTube instream non-skippable ads by duration (standard, max 30s, max 60s) using the new ad_sub_format_type segment. This segment must always be selected together with the ad_format_type field, and is selectable with AdGroup, AdGroupAd, Campaign, Customer, Video, and VideoEnhancement resources.

YouTube Shorts social metrics: You can now retrieve video-specific social metrics to help track user engagement (comments, likes, and shares) for Shorts ads on YouTube. These metrics are available in reports for AdGroup, AdGroupAd, Asset, Campaign, Customer, and Video resources.

Loyalty retention goal: The retention goal in Google Ads is designed to drive customer loyalty and high lifetime value (LTV) within your business. You can now optimize your campaigns for retaining loyalty program members. Configure campaign-specific settings (including bid adjustments and showing member benefits in Product Listing Ad format) or account-level settings.

New customer acquisition goal (Revamped): We’ve updated the new customer acquisition goal feature to reflect the revamped unified goals schema. The legacy CustomerLifecycleGoal and CampaignLifecycleGoal resources and services are removed. You should now configure these goals via the Goal and CampaignGoalConfig resources.

YouTube channel insights consent features: You can access detailed YouTube channel insights (average views, likes, comments, engagement rate, and audience attributes) for creators who have consented to share non-public data.

Announcing Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK as the preferred SDK for Android

GMA Next-Gen SDK is a significant rewrite of Google Mobile Ads SDK that improves speed, stability, and the developer experience. Google Mobile Ads SDK for Android is now legacy. We invite you to integrate GMA Next-Gen SDK and discover the performance and stability enhancements it can bring to your Android applications. To get started today, migrate to GMA Next-Gen SDK in AdMob and Ad Manager. Deprecation of Google Mobile Ads SDK (legacy) Google Mobile Ads SDK (legacy) versions 25.x.x are now considered outdated by GMA Next-Gen SDK. Today, we’re announcing the v24.2 release of the Google Ads API. This minor release brings critical security updates, new AI transparency features, reporting enhancements, and powerful planning insights. To use these new capabilities, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. All the updated client libraries and code examples have been published. We are also releasing minor versions v23.3, v22.2 and v21.2 of the Google Ads API to add additional support for multi-party approvals and synthetic content labeling. New Features Multi-party approvals (MPA) for Google Ads API: We are introducing support for multi-party approval in the Google Ads API. This feature secures sensitive account actions such as user invitations and user access level updates by requiring a second administrator to approve the changes. AI Transparency: Synthetic Content Labeling: As AI-generated assets become more common, transparency is essential. Google Ads API v24.2 exposes the SyntheticContentInfo and SyntheticContentAttestation structures on both Asset and Ad resources, allowing you to programmatically label AI-generated ad creatives. Both the advertiser and Google systems can attest whether the assets and ads are AI-generated or not, as well as whether they were generated fully automatically, or with advertiser-review. If you're preparing for the EU AI Act taking effect on August 2, 2026, then explore this feature. To help you plan your upcoming integration work for v25, the interface for mutating advertiser attestation fields is being introduced early for versions v22 and later. The interface is visible in these versions, but synthetic_content_info.advertiser_attestation.status and synthetic_content_info.advertiser_attestation.source fields will remain immutable for these versions. If you attempt a mutate request on either of these fields, one of these errors will be returned: "The field attempted to be mutated is immutable" or "Field cannot be set". These fields will become fully mutable starting in v25. We recommend using the interface now to build and test your internal logic so your system is ready for full write capabilities when v25 is launched. PMax Placement Reporting & Video Linkages: This release also includes key reporting and video asset enhancements:

PMax Placement Segmentation: You can now segment your performance_max_placement_view reporting by ad_network_type, giving you granular visibility into where your PMax ads are serving across Search, Display, and partner networks.

YouTube Brand Channel Links: Create secure YouTube data links associated with a specific brand channel directly via the Google Ads API, enabling richer video asset integrations.

Landing page text generation: Opt-in to automatic text asset generation derived directly from your landing page using the new LANDING_PAGE_TEXT_GENERATION AssetAutomationType.

New Experiment Types: We have introduced new experiment types to provide greater testing flexibility.

Campaign Mix Experiments: This new workflow supports the COMPARE_CAMPAIGNS experiment type, which is equivalent to Custom mixed campaign types in the Google Ads UI. It allows you to assign existing campaigns across up to 5 experiment arms to compare multiple variables and campaign types within a single experiment. This workflow also supports creating custom Performance Max experiments.

Performance Max Feature Testing: The new PMAX_TEXT_CUSTOMIZATION_FINAL_URL_EXPANSION experiment type lets you split traffic within a single campaign to test the impact of text customization (formerly automatically created assets) and final URL expansion.

Documentation updates We have revamped the release notes format to help you identify the changes introduced in each release. Breaking changes are now listed separately from non-breaking feature updates. The Feature deprecations and unversioned changes guide helps you keep track of feature sunsets. Launching Structured Data Files v10

Support for CTV targeting in Line Item file entries and regional location list targeting for Ad Group file entries.

New and updated options for the Audio Content Type Targeting column in the Line Item file format.

Removal of Campaign and Insertion Order file targeting columns deprecated in January 2026.

Removal of three Line Item file columns only applicable to Video Sequence line item entries.

Announcing v24.1 of the Google Ads API

Today, we’re announcing the v24.1 release of the Google Ads API. To use the new v24.1 features, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. All the updated client libraries and code examples have been published. New Features Mobile Device Platform Segment: Understanding where your traffic comes from is critical for campaign optimization. With v24.1, you can now segment campaign-level and customer-level reports using the segments.mobile_device_platform column. This field utilizes the new MobileDevicePlatform enum (supporting values like IOS and ANDROID), allowing you to cleanly isolate performance data and adjust bid strategies based on the user's mobile operating system. Classic images in DemandGen campaigns: As of v24.1, you can use the classic_display_images field of DemandGenMultiAssetAd to upload static image ads to serve on the Google Display Network (GDN) within your Demand Gen campaigns. These images are served as-is, without being combined with additional assets. This format provides full control over your creative branding. Refer to our help center for more information. Support for passkeys: Passkeys provide a simple and secure alternative to passwords. Google now requires some advertisers to use a passkey to authorize sensitive actions within their Google Ads account. The v24.1 introduces a new passkey_enabled field that indicates whether the user has a passkey enabled. Revamped support for Experiments: Experiments let you test the impact of your proposed changes. If you split the budget or traffic between the original campaign and experiment, you can easily compare the results over a specified time period. If the experiments produce better results, you can apply the experiment to the original campaign or replace the original campaign. The v24.1 introduces support for new experiment types: AI Max experiments, Video experiments, Demand Gen experiments (this and video are the same API type) and Performance Max experiments. You can now retrieve and compare detailed performance metrics (such as clicks, conversions, and impressions) across individual experimental arms. This makes side-by-side performance analysis easier and more transparent. Refer to our guide to learn more about experiment workflows. New Data Retention Policy for Google Ads: We recently announced that starting June 1, 2026, Google Ads and related measurement APIs will transition to a 37-month data retention policy for granular performance statistics (daily, hourly, and weekly). The V24.1 introduces a new DateRangeError.REQUESTED_DATE_GRANULARITY_NOT_SUPPORTED error code to support this change. The following resources can help you get started:

Introducing Partial Structured Data File Upload

Today we’re introducing Partial Structured Data File Upload to Display & Video 360! This new capability allows you to upload Line Item Structured Data Files (SDFs) that only include certain subsets of columns. Standard Line Item Structured Data Files require the inclusion of over 120 columns to support a wide breadth of Display & Video 360 settings. Partial SDFs let you only include settings that you want to update, making the files smaller and easier to manage. The reduced size of partial SDFs enables:

A higher overall resource limit for a single file.

Faster file uploads and resource updates.

Reduced risk of unintended changes to other line item settings.

Partial SDFs are uploaded using the Display & Video 360 UI, the same as you would upload a standard SDF. No additional enrollment or configuration is required. See the Partial SDF Upload guide to learn which SDF columns are currently supported and download sample files to get started. New features Support for Conversions with Cart Data: Conversions with cart data is an extension to conversion tracking on your website or app. Using conversions with cart data, you can provide the details of products sold for each transaction, which helps you unlock advanced sales, profit reporting, and insights for your Google Ads account and campaigns, such as number of orders, average cart size, revenue and gross profit. Google Ads API v24 adds support for this feature as follows:

Added a new resource CartDataSalesView that allows segmenting conversion metrics not only by the product clicked, but also by the product sold, with segments like product_sold_brand. These enable advertisers to view statistics on the products the customers actually bought after clicking ads, even if the ad was for a different product.

Added several “all” non-biddable metrics, which are metrics that also include the conversions your campaigns are not actively optimizing towards, for example all_cost_of_goods_sold_micros. The new metrics are added to all resources supporting corresponding biddable metrics.

Added the conversion_attribution_event_type segment to the ShoppingPerformanceView resource, making it selectable with cart data and other conversion metrics. This segment denotes whether the conversion is attributed to a click or to a view and it is necessary to recognize cart data stats produced by view-through conversions.

Updated features Version v24 introduces updates to existing features that require code changes when upgrading. We cover the most important ones here; check out the release notes for the full list of changes. Video content exclusion settings in campaigns: We simplified the ability to set video content exclusion settings on individual campaigns. This setting is available at the customer level, and applies to all the campaigns instead. These content exclusion settings are meant to give you additional control and help you exclude types of content that, while in compliance with our policies, may not fit your brand or business. Changes to AudienceInsightsService: As part of a code refactoring, we moved the InsightsAudience.topic_audience_combinations request field into the common namespace. You may need to update your import directives in some programming languages. Changes to ReachPlanService: As part of a code refactoring, we moved the youtube_select_lineups field from the ReachPlanService.ListPlannableProducts service. Lineups are now available within the youtube_select_lineup_targeting field. YouTube Select Lineups are reservation products for eligible clients to target among the top 1% of popular channels on YouTube with the most passionate audiences in a given market. Learn more. Changes to ContentCreatorInsightsService: As part of a code refactoring, we removed the is_brand_connect_creator field from the ContentCreatorInsightsService.GenerateCreatorInsights and ContentCreatorInsightsService.GenerateTrendingInsights services.
Users should instead look for a creator to have the CREATOR_PARTNERSHIPS option available instead in partnership_opportunities. The YouTube Creator Partnerships in Google Ads is the space where you can find YouTube creators to partner with on sponsored content and help you efficiently manage your creator partnerships. Learn more. Changes to KeywordPlanIdeaService: To provide a more streamlined and reliable experience, we have unified our forecasting infrastructure. Google Ads API v24 introduces an updated GenerateKeywordForecastMetrics method that simplifies the planning process by focusing on the metrics that most directly impact your performance. We will share a more detailed blog post about this change in the coming days. Changes to campaign_budget resource: We removed the ad_sub_network_type segment for the campaign_budget resource because it is incompatible with this view. Changes to asset views: We removed the click_type segment from the ad_group_asset, campaign_asset, and customer_asset views. This change aligns with a recent product change that removed this segment from the Google Ads to avoid misrepresentation of data. You can use the click_type segmentation from the ad_group_ad resource to get details on the ad performance and the asset it was served with. Changes to video responsive ad: VideoResponsiveAdInfo is now mutable. As part of this change, we have marked videos, business_name and logo_images as required fields in both the DemandGenVideoResponsiveAdInfo and VideoResponsiveAdInfo objects. Changes to ShareablePreviewService: Updated ShareablePreviewService.GenerateShareablePreviews to not use partial failure anymore. Requests will throw an error if they fail for any ID. Learn more. April 2026 update to Display & Video 360 API

Today we’re announcing the April 2026 update to the Display & Video 360 API. This update includes the following:

Support for additional Exchange and ThirdPartyVendor values.

AdAsset identifier fields in objects used in AdGroupAd resources.

Beta support for Demand Gen resource management.

While Demand Gen campaign support is in beta, it is only available to allowlisted customers. See our guide for detailed instructions on how to create a Demand Gen ad campaign. If your partner is allowlisted:

Demand Gen line items, ad groups, and the relevant targeting will be included in relevant get and list requests.

Demand Gen line items, ad groups, ads, and the relevant targeting can be created, deleted, and updated.

We aim to launch full Demand Gen support for the Display & Video 360 API in general availability later this year. This will be announced with a future release. Announcing v23.2 of the Google Ads API

Today, we’re announcing the v23.2 release of the Google Ads API. To use the new v23.2 features, you must upgrade your client libraries and client code. All the updated client libraries and code examples have been published. Come join us for a live walkthrough of this release in our "Google Ads API Release Highlights" event on Discord or on our Ads Developers YouTube Live tomorrow (March 26th at 11a ET). Here are some of the key features in this release:

Added the VideoEnhancement resource with enhancement-specific video ad information, such as whether it's Google-generated or advertiser-provided. See the About video enhancements to learn more.

Added HotelSettingInfo.disable_hotel_setting to allow disabling the hotel feed in Demand Gen campaigns.
